Whether you travel Highway 89 South, East River Road or Old Yellowstone Trail, a drive through the Paradise Valley -- any season of the year -- lets you know what “paradise” Montana-style means. To the east the spectacular rugged mountains stand with majestic EmigrantPeak towering as a sentinel while the valley rolls into undulating hills. The Yellowstone River, one of the few rivers in the world that travels south to north, winds its way through the valley traveling from Yellowstone Park to Livingston.
Emigrant with post office, church, bank, groceries and gas, a saloon, a couple of other businesses and a few houses, is an outpost about midway in the ParadiseValley. There are a few more churches, a school (K-8), and assorted small businesses dotting the valley which stretches 53 miles to Gardiner.
In the early spring baby calves are numerous, standing wobbly-legged next to their mamas. In summer the sweetness of fresh cut hay fills the air. There are still some large ranches in the ParadiseValley but over the past 20 years much has been divided into parcels ranging from 2 to 20 acres. Vacant land is still available or you can settle into an established homestead.
Recreational opportunities abound in the ParadiseValley. The YellowstoneRiver is a haven for fly-fishing, kayaking and river floating. The GallatinNational Forest is popular in all seasons with many points of access for hiking, horseback riding, hunting, camping, snowshoeing and much more. Take a soak in the Chico Hot Springs pool or enjoy dinner, entertainment and accommodations. Many Bed & Breakfasts welcome visitors to a home-style comfortable stay.
There is much beauty and adventure that await you in ParadiseValley. It may just be the place you want to call home.
