BELGRADE,
MONTANA

Belgrade started as a station on a railroad sidetrack. As a gesture of appreciation to the railroad’s European financial investors, it was named after Belgrade the capital of Serbia Originally this railway station was the site of a large grain warehouse which was initially managed by Tom Quaw who became known as the “Father of Belgrade”. Being 10 miles closer to farmers in the western part of the Gallatin Valley, Belgrade proved to be a great shipping location and a convenient place for farmers to pick up supplies.

Enterprising Tom Quaw lived in Belgrade from the start and promoted the establishment and growth of the town. In 1904, the Farmer-Stockman editorialized “that we are justly entitled to call it ‘busy Belgrade. And “busy” it is to this day! This thriving town of Belgrade has been one of the fastest growing Montana communities in the past ten years. It has seen not only tremendous residential growth but has also become a place for establishing and expanding many types of business.

Belgrade has a population of approximately 9,000 people and is only 9 miles from Bozeman Transportation is still one of its biggest assets It is home to Gallatin Airport which services commercial and private flights. It is located off of Interstate 90 and has state highway access and railway access. It is a convenient and welcome place to live and do business!
